Christmas in July invitation ideas and wording suggestions

Idea #1

1. Create instant invitations by digging out that old box of Christmas cards.

2. On the inside blank panel, neatly write your party details such as time-date-place for a no-stress Christmas invitation.

3. If you're handy with a computer printer, include party details on the blank side panel, or print the information on a blank sheet and fold it in with the card. Gather bored kids on summer break to help decorate with drawings, ribbon, or glue and glitter.

Idea #2
1. Find some small boxes that could be wrapped in Christmas gift wrap.



2. Attach the invitation to the present as a card.

3. In the card mention that you would like them to carefully open the present and insert a written family Christmas tradition on a piece of paper. Then reseal gift and have them bring to party.


4. As guests arrive with presents place them on the table as part of the centerpiece. Then during dessert have guests grab a gift to open and read the 'tradition' inside and guess which couple it belongs to.

Idea #3
1. If you were able to plan this party months in advance (like around the previous Christmas) then you may have gotten in on felt stockings at the dollar store or Walmart. Put some nuts or candies inside and pin the invite to the stocking. It could say something like this:

Santa Claus is trying to get a head start on his nice/naughty list.

You and your spouse are invited to a Christmas in July dinner party to show Santa what a good boy and girl you two are!

When: July 28th at 6:00 p.m.

Where: the Miller's home- 1600 NorthWoods Drive

Please bring your favorite Christmas holiday appetizer or side dish to share and

One small wrapped gift for a couple (valued at max $10.) for our gift exchange.

Idea #4

1. Buy or make a Christmas ornament for each couple invited to the party.

2. Find a box to place each ornament in then wrap in Christmas wrapping and include a small invited on the tag.

3. Guests will be excited to find a Christmas surprise in the present AND be invited to a dinner party to celebrate Christmas in July. You could have guests take out ornament and put a slip of paper with a family Christmas tradition written on it and rewrapped inside the box.

Christmas Gift Wrapping Party

How it works:

You provide wrapping supplies and food. Ask each guest to bring some presents to wrap and one roll of wrapping paper so you have a variety.

Whom to invite:

Three to five friends. If you have plenty of counter space or are comfortable having people wrapping gifts on the floor, then you could invite more. It's a perfect time to catch up and escape nosy family members.

Invitation or e-mail:

Evite is a great quick way to send to lots of internet savy friends. Not to mention the reminders they can receive up until party day comes. If you have time then make some invites.

Atmosphere:

No decorating is necessary. Most likely your home will already be decorated for Christmas One optional idea is to wrap the outside of your front door in wrapping paper and add a big bow. A nice touch would be Christmas paper products for refreshments. Don't forget Christmas music!

What to serve:

Have drinks and ice set out for everyone to serve themselves. Fill bowls with chips, nuts and fruits. Have plates of sandwiches made up ahead of time. You can also make cheese and cracker and veggie and dip plates.

Game Plan:

Two weeks before-

Deliver or mail invites. Since it is a BUSY month it would be wise to email them and give them a heads up in November.
Stock up on wrapping supplies. Buy tape, collect extra scissors (or ask them to bring their own)

A few days before-

Email a reminder or call and remind.
Buy snacks/refreshments

Day of-

Set up a work space. Clear an area (counters, floor, dining table)

6 rolls wrapping paper
4 to 6 pairs scissors
4 to 6 rolls tape
4 spools ribbon
2 packages stick-on bows
1 package gift tags

Hot Cocoa mix with bagged marshmallows is a great favor for a Christmas in July party, any winter holiday party, or the Breakfast Dinner Party.

Hot Cocoa Mix
• 1/2 cup cocoa
• 1 cup sugar
• 3 cups instant dry milk
• dash salt

Sift 3 times.
To serve: In a mug combine 3-4 heaping teaspoons of mix with boiling water.

Package hot cocoa mix in glass jars or tins which are available online at Specialtybottle.com, or Kerr canning jars from your local grocery.

Maple Syrup is a sweet way for guests to remember you by. This would also make a cute invitation to a 'Breakfast' Dinner Party. Maple Syrup for a Dinner Party where you eat favorite Breakfast foods. To make this favor you need maple syrup, favor hang tags and ribbon.

These CD's could be styled for any party theme!!! Romantic dinner music to take home as a reminder. Music hits from any decade if you are having an 80's or a 50's party. Some great Salsa music for a latin party. Andrea Bocceli if you have an Italian Dinner party.

At www.myownlabes.com you can get a recipe to make your own cilantro pasta for a favor. To make it easier. Buy each guest a small bag of 12-16 oz. spaghetti. Tie a large red (or the color of your Italian Dinner party) and attach a hanging label to the bow thanking guests for coming and put a date on it somewhere subtly. You could also print your own labels on the computer and stick to pasta packaging.
